With Odell Beckham Jr. off the New York Giants and on the Cleveland Browns, the wide receiver room looks a lot different in New York, but according to the wideouts still on the team, the vibe hasn't changed. Wide Receiver Russell Sheppard thinks one of the reasons that they really haven't felt a change yet is because OBJ wasn't involved in OTA's last season, so last season players had to step up during this time.

“The vibe has kind of been the same,” Giants wide receiver Russell Shepard told NJ Advance Media during minicamp. “You take out a guy with Odell’s presence away, there’s going to be a difference. Odell didn’t play a good bit of OTAs or training camp last year, so we had guys who had to step in and kind of make their presence known whether it was on the field or off the field.”

With Beckham gone, it has also forced a new leader to step up and all the players have seen a change in Sterling Shepard. Cody Latimer said Shepard has been pushing everyone during every practice and has completely embarrassed the new role.

“Sterling’s leading us,” Latimer said. “He always had that dawg in him. You see the aggressiveness that he comes to the field with every day, both how he plays and how he practices. He’s going to be loud, hyping up his guys, pushing us.

How the wide receivers will step up on the field is what is most important, but it seems everyone in that room seems happy right now and will be ready for a big season.
