In the last couple of weeks, things have picked up in the extension talks between the New York Giants and star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. with signs pointing to a new lucrative deal being hammered out in the near future.

Beckham Jr. has weighed in the situation by stating that he believes it will be something that is worked out on its own timetable between both sides as he's allowing for his agent to handle things, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic.

This is a matter that Beckham Jr. has much confidence will get worked out at some point in the near future. The two sides have made enough progress to where things are hedging toward a new massive extension could possibly be completed prior to the start of the regular season. There have been reports that the Giants may be willing to make him the highest-paid player at his position.

Beckham Jr. has shown major improvement in training camp and the offseason with his surgically-repaired left ankle that he looks to be on track to be on the field for Week 1 of the regular season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Beyond that, he has already proven to have the type of talent that deserves a huge contract as he's established himself as one of the top wide receivers in the league. He had been producing at a historic pace prior to the injury that already saw him become the first player in the league history to record at least 90 catches for 1,300 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns in each of his first three years.

It may just be a matter of time before both sides come to terms on a deal that keeps Beckham Jr. in the fold for the long haul as one of the centerpieces to their offensive game plan.
