Odell Beckham Jr. gave his football fantasy owners and New York Giants fans quite a scare in the NFL preseason when he hurt his ankle in a game against the Cleveland Browns nearly three weeks ago.
The injury has put Beckham’s availability for the Giants’ Week 1 showdown with the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas this Sunday in question.
Now, it is being reported that the Pro Bowl wide receiver is back on the field after missing practices with the Giants. Per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Beckham has made it back to the field on Wednesday, though he remained a non-participant during practices.
Odell Beckham Jr. returned to the field with the Giants on Wednesday for the first time since spraining his left ankle on Aug. 21 in Cleveland, but he did not participate in practice.
While Giants fans would prefer their star wideout practicing, the fact that he’s doing some form of physical activities is a welcome development. Despite the offseason addition of Brandon Marshall and the expected increase in work volume for sophomore wide receiver Sterling Shepard, Eli Manning and the Giants’ offense will continue to treat the LSU product Beckham as the primary target down the field.
In 16 games last season, Beckham snagged 101 receptions and turned them into 1,367 receiving yards to go with 10 touchdown grabs.
