It’s not a secret that Odell Beckham Jr. is batting for a new and much lucrative contract with the New York Giants, and he may just get his wish granted before the first week of the regular season arrives, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
The New York Giants and Beckham Jr. have made progress on what is expected to be a record-breaking contract for a wide receiver, sources told ESPN, and there is reasonable optimism from both sides that a deal may get done at the start of the season.
Beckham is slated to earn $8.45 million in the upcoming season after the Giants picked up their fifth-year option on the talented wideout, so the extension deal that’s reportedly in the works right now will kick in during the 2019 campaign.

Brown is currently the highest-paid player at his position with an average annual salary of $17 million, according to Overthecap.com. Evans and Hopkins are not too far behind with $16.5 million and $16.2 million, respectively.
The Giants were wary of Beckham’s health after the former LSU Tiger broke his ankle last year, which limited him to only four games in 2017. However, Beckham looks like he’s regained his form after impressive showings during joint practices with the Detroit Lions last week. He has not played in a preseason game so far, but he’s undeniably healthy again.
In four years in the league, Beckham has racked up 4,424 receiving yards and 38 touchdowns on 313 receptions.
