New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones looked impressive yet again in his third preseason game on Thursday night, completing nine of his 11 passes for 141 yards in a 25-23 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Of course, the Giants were widely criticized for taking Jones with the sixth overall pick in the NFL Draft back in April, but now, some are starting to walk back their original assessments of the selection, and now, New York head coach Pat Shurmur wants to know why people didn't like Jones to begin with.

“You can ask me all you want about why I like him,” Shurmur said, according to Tom Rock of Newsday. “I think it’s time to start asking the people that didn’t like him what they think, quite frankly.”

Jones opened up some eyes during his first preseason game earlier this month, going 5-for-5 with 67 yards and a touchdown in a 31-22 victory over the New York Jets. Then, the following week, he impressed once again, completing 11 of his 14 throws for 161 yards and a score in what ended up being a 32-13 win over the Chicago Bears.

The 22-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Duke, did not have an incredibly productive collegiate career, which led some to question whether or not he could actually play quarterback in the NFL.

He is coming off of a senior campaign in which he threw for 2,674 yards, 22 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while completing 60.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 131.7.

But, it's looking more and more like Jones can, in fact, play pro football.
