New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley was initially expected to miss 4-8 weeks with a high-ankle sprain suffered against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3, but now he's eyeing a much quicker return in Week 6 against the New England Patriots, ESPN's Jordan Raanan reports.
***Note: Saquon is not coming back this week. His eyes are on next week, although the Giants play at New England on Thursday night. Still don't be surprised if team plays it safe with their star RB. https://t.co/VF2HbL1gmb

What's even scarier about that is the fact that even for a little bit, Barkley was being considered for the Week 5 game with against the Minnesota Vikings. Even though it was just for a short amount of time, that's ridiculous.
Think about it, Barkley wasn't immediately ruled out for a game just two weeks after a high-ankle sprain. An injury that had him listed as out 4-8 weeks and he had a slight chance of playing just two weeks later.

The Giants have won their last two games and have moved to 2-2 on the season. Clearly they've been rejuvenated by the addition of rookie quarterback Daniel Jones into the starting lineup.
Now imagine when they get one of the best running backs in the NFL back onto the field. Things could seriously be looking up for them.
However, they still have to face Minnesota without Barkley. And even if he returns for the Patriots game, that's an extremely tall task. Will they be up for it?
