New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has accomplished a feat that hasn't been done in a long time within the franchise.

Barkley has had a monster rookie with the team, as the former Penn State star has rushed for 1,155 yards and nine touchdowns while racking up 82 receptions for 654 yards and four scores.

His impressive play was enough to earn him Pro Bowl honors in his first season in the NFL, and that's something that hasn't been done in many years in the Giants organization.

From ESPN's Jordan Raanan:

Barkley is the first Giants rookie running back to be selected to the Pro Bowl since Tucker Frederickson in 1965. He is the first Giants running back of any kind to reach the Pro Bowl since Tiki Barber in 2006, the final season of his career.

It's a tremendous honor for Barkley to already be voted among the league's bests at his position, and there's no doubt that he has a very bright future with the franchise.

Of course, New York fans would also like to see his efforts turn into more wins.

The Giants are now 5-9 on the season after last week's disappointing 17-0 loss to the Tennessee Titans, and with only two games remaining, a lot of focus will turn to what this team needs to do in the offseason to get things back on track.

But before they get there, they'll prepare for two tough challenges, with the Giants taking on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday before hosting the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17.
