New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley said he’d report to training camp even without having his rookie contract signed. Luckily for the Giants, they won’t have to worry about that scenario on the day their rookies report to camp.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the No. 2 pick has finally agreed to his rookie deal with the Giants.
The Giants have agreed to terms with first-round RB Saquon Barkley on his four-year, fully guaranteed contract worth $31.2M, source says. He has a $20.76M signing bonus with $15M paid out immediately — the most in several years. He gets the rest by October. Rookies report today.
Barkley's agent, Kimberly Miale, tweeted a picture of Barkley putting pen to paper on his deal.
It’s official. Very proud of this guy! I can’t wait to watch him continue to put in work and come out stronger every day. Congratulations @saquon!! Go big blue!!! pic.twitter.com/fxsMYcD9Hu

By signing his deal, Barkley is now the highest-paid running back in the league in terms of guaranteed money, and his $21 million compensation this year makes him the highest-paid RB in 2018.
The rookie running back is expected to take on a significant role right away on the Giants offense. Apart from his ability as a runner, which should help jumpstart New York’s anemic ground game, he also proved to be quite a dynamic pass catcher in college.
Expectations will be high for Barkley, especially after the Giants decided to take him with that No. 2 pick over their potential quarterback of the future who would take over for the aging Eli Manning. But Barkley claims he doesn’t feel any sort of pressure heading into his rookie year. And after agreeing to his rookie deal, he now has one fewer thing to worry about ahead of his very first training camp.
