Will New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning have his place in Canton one day? There’s been a raging debate of late about whether Manning will make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame down the road, and for former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe, Manning isn’t only a lock to get his own gold jacket someday, but should also get inducted as a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
Sharpe shared his thoughts about Eli Manning during an episode of Undisputed and amid the clear disagreement of Skip Bayless, who bore the same face as that of someone who just learned that his house has burned down, while his co-host was making his case for the 37-year-old signal-caller.
Via John Fennelly of Giants Wire:
“Eli Manning is going to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer,” Sharpe said during a recent episode of Undisputed. “I got bad news for you. He’s one of five men who have won two Super Bowl MVPs. Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, Tom Brady, Bart Starr and Eli Manning.”
Shannon Sharpe, a Hall of Famer himself, also gave Manning points for being a G.O.A.T. killer.
“It’s not that just a two-time Super Bowl MVP,” Sharpe continued. “It’s who did he take down!”
More from Sharpe:
“He’ll be top five, top six in passing yards and touchdowns and took down Brady at his all-time best. He’s undefeated and untied in Super Bowls”.
Unlike his older brother, Peyton Manning, Eli’s credentials have caused divisiveness among football fans and experts alike. He is still playing, though, so he could still add more to his resume.
