New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen has made it clear that for the franchise to move forward this offseason, tough decisions will need to be made. New York needs to clear upwards of $40 million in cap space, which will require the team to, one way or another, part ways with talented players, such as star running back Saquon Barkley, who has been the talk of trade speculation lately. However, it appears that Barkley won't be dealt this offseason. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network notes the one Pro Bowl player who the Giants could be looking to trade instead, as reported by NBC Sports.

There was no indication that Schoen has been getting calls about such a deal, however, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the team is not expected to move Barkley.

The same may not be true of cornerback James Bradberry. Rapoport reports that he’s likelier to leave the team via a trade this offseason.

Per Rapoport, the Giants are not expected to trade Saquon Barkley. However, New York could explore a deal for Pro Bowl cornerback James Bradberry. That would make sense, as the star cornerback is due to make $21 million in 2022. By trading Bradberry, the Giants would free up as much as $12.1 million in cap room.

It's certainly not the easiest of decisions, given New York's struggles to defend the pass- and Bradberry's own ability in that area. However, if it's a choice between trading Bradberry and Barkley, who could return to his awesome 2018 form with the right offseason moves, that's an easy choice for Schoen to make.

Not only would a Bradberry trade free up more cap room, but it allows the Giants to hold onto perhaps their best offensive player, which is also in the best interest of quarterback Daniel Jones.
