The Cleveland Browns pulled off a blockbuster not too long ago by trading for former Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, who didn't play all of last season due to legal issues. In the process, it basically left Baker Mayfield out in cold water and he still remains with the organization, even though there are several teams in the league who could use a QB of his caliber.

Bengals star Joe Burrow was recently asked about Watson replacing Mayfield as the Browns' QB1 and gave his honest take on the whole situation.

Via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com:

“When you have a guy like Deshaun, you have to take a chance at that because he’s such a great player,” Burrow said. “But Baker is a really good player, he’ll land on his feet.”

Burrow also went on to praise Mayfield for his brilliance over the years for the Browns, especially against Cincinnati:

“He was hurt all last year and every time we play him, he balls,” Burrow said. “The first time we play him, week two of my rookie year, we lost like [35–30] or something, and the next time we play him, I throw 400 yards, he goes like [22-28] with five touchdowns. Goes on a two-minute drive, touchdown, won the game. I haven’t beat the Browns yet.”

There is no question Mayfield can still be a very good NFL quarterback. But, the Browns knew they wanted Watson and when the opportunity presented itself, they had to pounce. But, he is facing a possible suspension because of the legal problems, so maybe Cleveland could keep Baker after all. It's unlikely he'll want to play second fiddle, though.
