The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have rapidly transformed their roster ahead of the 2020 season. Head coach Bruce Arians will be at the helm for a whole host of new faces this upcoming year, but it does not appear that free agent running back Devonta Freeman will be one of them.

Per Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk, Arians has cited that the price tag that Freeman is seeking is beyond what the team is looking to spend on a running back. Freeman has spoken of potential retirement at age 28, believing that he shouldn't play for less money than he is seeking.

Tampa Bay is set to enter the new campaign with Ronald Jones II as the bell cow in the backfield. But beyond that, the team is hoping that third-round selection Ke'Shawn Vaughn out of Vanderbilt can develop into a complementary back should they opt not to pony up in free agency for another back.

What Freeman would bring to any franchise is consistency. A two-time Pro Bowler with the Falcons in 2015-16, Freeman claimed a share of the league lead in rushing touchdowns (11) in his second season, taking over full-time top back duties.

In addition to the 32 rushing scores that he has accumulated throughout his career, Freeman has also been a consistent member of the passing attack, having racked up more than 2,000 receiving yards in his six years, including a career-high four-touchdown campaign in 2019.

The path to Freeman signing a deal for 2020 remains murky, but if he is willing to drop his asking price, the Buccaneers might yet again emerge as a suitor in hopes of further increasing their already lethal offense.
