Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott sounds as if he's awfully glad to have Aldon Smith on his team, rather than having to worry about being chased down by what was once one of the game's prolific pass-rushers.

After seeing Smith practice ahead of the start of the 2020 year, Prescott described what he has seen from Smith.

“He's a monster,” per Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. “Damn sure doesn't look like he hasn't played in five years. … He's going to make all of us better. A great player.”

Smith, now 30, hasn't suited up since playing for the then-Oakland Raiders in 2015. A litany of off-the-field and legal issues sidetracked his career, which had been nearing its apex back in 2012 when he was named to the Pro Bowl and selected as an All-Pro while with San Francisco.

With the NFL finally agreeing to reinstate Smith from his suspension for the 2020 year, the Cowboys took a chance on the outside linebacker reclaiming his prior form, which would further aid their defense in being a terrifying unit to block.

During four seasons with the 49ers to begin his career in 2011-14, Smith compiled 44 sacks in 50 games, including a 19.5-sack campaign where he also accrued 66 total tackles, 29 quarterback hits, and 18 tackles for a loss. While expecting that level of production is unreasonable, if Dallas can get Smith to stay on the field for an extended period of time in 2020, he seems to be a steady pass-rushing source, especially if Prescott's opinion holds any merit.
