Georgia Bulldogs star Stetson Bennett is running it back with the team after their national title win last week.

Bennett confirmed the decision on social media, posting a photo on his Instagram stories saying that he'll play with the Bulldogs for “one more year.”

Sure enough, the decision came as a surprise to some who expected Stetson Bennett to move on from the program and perhaps pursue that NFL dream. After all, he has nothing left to prove at the collegiate level with the Georgia Bulldogs, and it didn't seem like he wanted to transfer schools.

Moreover, he also addressed his future with the Bulldogs rather vaguely after getting the national title, only saying that he'd play football for sure.

“But for the next year, I’m gonna play football. I've got a decent amount of years. Hopefully, I live until at least 80. So, we’ll say 60 years to not play football. I’m going to play football this year — we’ll see where. We will see if I can trust the decisions made by the staff, and we will see where I’m going to play. But right now I'm enjoying this national championship and the next part, who knows,” Bennett said when asked about his future last week, per Sports Illustrated.

With that said, his decision to say is certainly interesting. While it could also backfire and tarnish his legacy, there is no doubt he is going down as a Georgia legend.

His story is also pretty amazing to say the least, which is why his emotional reaction to their title win over the Alabama Crimson Tide is heartwarming to watch over and over again. Bennett was a walk-on for the team and started as the second-string quarterback this 2021, only getting an opportunity to start after JT Daniels suffered an injury.
