The Jacksonville Jaguars enter the 2020 NFL season with the lowest projected win total (4.5) among all 32 teams, per the William Hill Sportsbook. 

Despite winning six games last season, prognosticators have Jacksonville projected to win at least one fewer game this year. Last season, four teams (Cincinnati, Washington, New York Giants, Detroit) won four games or fewer, yet all of those squads have seen their projected win total climb entering the new season.

After Gardner Minshew II proved himself adept last year as a rookie, he has a strong grip on the starting reins heading into 2020. But if William Hill and other sportsbooks are right about where the Jaguars are headed, Minshew could be looking over his shoulder when Jacksonville selects early in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Much hype and speculation has already begun to swirl about Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who is the odds-on favorite to be the top pick after putting together two gaudy statistical seasons with the Tigers, including winning a national championship. Likely, the only path to selecting Lawrence will be drafting near the top selections, which may not serve as an unfortunate consolation prize for the Jaguars' front office if 2020 goes south.

When deciding to bet a team's win total, first and foremost in the decision is surely: Who do they play? And in Jacksonville's case, they open the year with four of their first seven games coming against teams who had five or fewer wins last year (Dolphins, Bengals, Lions, Chargers). There's no such thing as a surefire win or loss for any team in the NFL, but the Jaguars have some early season fuel to their fire.
