Is Tom Brady actually coming out of retirement just weeks after announcing his decision to call it a career? This has been the big question on everybody's mind as we go through what has been an eventful season in the NFL.

Well, based on his most recent comments, it sounds like the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers superstar hasn't completely closed that particular chapter on his book:

“I tell you, I wish I had a clear vision of what the future holds,” Brady responded when asked about his plans for the immediate future, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, “but I think for me, there’s a lot of great things and a lot of great opportunities that, I know I said right after football season I was looking forward to spending time with my family. And I’ve done that the last five weeks, and I know there’ll be a lot more of that, too. So, you know, I like staying busy, that’s for sure.”

Brady has indeed been keeping himself busy over the past month or so and he is clearly loving life in retirement. Could it be that he's been actively keeping himself preoccupied so as not to let his mind linger on the thought of actually returning to the NFL?

Whatever the case may be, Tom Brady is trying to live the life of an average Joe right now. Or at least he's trying his best to. The 44-year-old even talked about how he intends to surprise his mom with an unannounced visit:

“I played a litte bit of golf and I'm actually gonna see my parents tonight, which will be a real highlight for me on thier turf. I'll be sleeping in the same bed I slept at when I was a kid. I don't think my mom knows I'm coming home yet. So it's just between my dad an I, it is a little bit of a surprise.”

Finally, the GOAT dropped a major hint as to his possible return to the field:

“So looking forward to that, looking forward to some golf in the next few days and some more family time,” he said, “and then we’ll figure out where we go from there.”

Well, there you have it. Brady obviously didn't say that he intends to come out of retirement, but he didn't rule out the possibility as well. Clearly, this rather cryptic statement is very much open to interpretation, so do with it what you must.

For what it's worth, the 15-time Pro Bowler has been pretty consistent with this same tone throughout his brief stint in retirement. Just recently, Brady said that his future plans are still “to be determined.” He's never been direct about coming back, but at the same time, he's teased us with the prospect all the same. Unless he's playing with our emotions just for kicks, this only means that at the very least, he's likely considering the possibility of returning. Right? I mean, it would be very easy for him to shut down all these rumors by definitively saying no, but Brady has opted not to do this.

Taking all of this into consideration, I guess the big takeaway here is that at this point, all hope is not lost on a potential comeback for Tom Brady.
