The Los Angeles Rams are preparing to take on the division-rival Arizona Cardinals in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs. For Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, Monday's contest against the Cardinals will be just the fourth playoff game that he's started in his career. Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay was asked if he was worried about Stafford's ability to lead the Rams to victory on Monday given his limited playoff experience, to which McVay offered this honest take, per Rams Wire of USA Today.
“No. He’s played in playoff games. We’ll talk about what we think it’s going to take to go win the football game, but I really thought he was trying to will us to victory yesterday,” McVay said Monday. “I thought he made some incredible throws. I thought he was outstanding on third down. There was a lot of really big-time (plays).
Rams head coach Sean McVay has zero concerns about quarterback Matthew Stafford's ability to lead the team in the playoffs. As McVay said, Stafford has played in playoff games before.
Article Continues BelowMcVay went on to speak about how Stafford showed qualities during the team's regular-season finale loss to the San Francisco 49ers, such as his play on third downs, that will be key to the Rams' success in the postseason.
It's understandable to be concerned about Stafford's playoff experience, as he's participated in just three playoff games while with the Detroit Lions, losing all three.
However, those Lions teams needed Stafford to be perfect to have a chance to win. These Rams have proven they can win whether Stafford is on or not. That could be all the difference for Sean McVay, Matthew Stafford and the Rams this postseason.
