The Redskins finished the first half down 28-3. Their lone score came on a Dustin Hopkins field goal with the time running out of the half. Chicago simply dominated Washington for the entirety of the first half.
Article Continues BelowThough quarterback Mitchell Trubisky looked shaky, he still managed to throw three touchdowns, all to wide receiver Taylor Gabriel. However, the Bears would've still been up even if Trubisky never threw the touchdowns — their defense decimated the Washington offensive line in the first half and even forced a Case Keenum pick-six.
At home, Washington fans experienced what would likely be a loss. Therefore, chants for Dwayne Haskins' arrival and replacement to Keenum were yelled towards the end of the first half. In the meantime, the ESPN broadcast showed nothing but depressed Washington fans.
Washington's truly putrid first-half performance likely won't be made up for with a second-half comeback. By the end of the third quarter, the team was still down, 28-9. Though Keenum threw a touchdown (to Terry McLaurin) he threw yet another interception, his third of the night. Washington didn't replace him with Haskins.
