The Washington Redskins need a new head coach. The now-retired Urban Meyer remains as one of the hottest candidates to enter the NFL as a head coach. On Sunday, before Washington's tilt with the Philadelphia Eagles, Meyer was spotted with Redskins owner Dan Snyder at FedEx Field, per Ross Tucker of The Athletic.

Though now retired, there have been whispers that Meyer, 55, wants to rejoin the coaching ranks. With the Redskins holding a vacant spot, mutual interest would make sense, especially considering the Ohio State contingent in Washington.
Meyer, the former head coach of Ohio State, is familiar with Washington's promising offensive duo of quarterback Dwayne Haskins and wide receiver Terry McLaurin. He recruited both to be Buckeyes, watched them turn into starters and coached them throughout their journey to the NFL.
Meyer could be in Washington to watch his former Buckeye standouts play. Or, there could be interest. If Snyder wants to pair-up Meyer with Haskins and McLaurin, it would be a blockbuster move.
An outstanding college coach, Meyer won national championships at Florida and Ohio State. Before then, he propped up Alex Smith's career at Utah, in turn, upping the prestige of the Ute's program. His resumé — outside of last year's scandal — is one that would get him offers at nearly every college program looking for a coach if he were to unretire.
Of course, Meyer may be looking to go pro strictly. He has never coached in the NFL. However, after turning around three programs, the NFL could be very interested in a coach that has never backed down from a challenge.
