With the exception of the LA Rams and Arizona Cardinals, it has come as quite a surprise to see the Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos, and Carolina Panthers as the other undefeated teams through the first three weeks of the 2021 NFL season. As impressive as it has been to see these teams progress this quickly, it's still way too early to tell if all of them are going to make the playoffs this season.
Especially considering how competitive both the NFC and AFC West divisions are this year. It is still early into the season, but there are a ton of teams already showing their playoff potential. So let's now discuss which of these undefeated teams is most likely to miss this year's playoffs and why that will be.
3-0 NFL team that will miss the playoffs: Denver Broncos
Even though they have started their NFL season with three consecutive double-digit wins, they've all been against non-playoff teams and until the Denver Broncos cross paths with a true contender we won't know what this team is really made of or if they're legitimate playoff contenders.
Look no further, because this Sunday they'll have their first real test of the NFL season playing against a Baltimore Ravens squad that's coming in hot after back-to-back comeback wins against the Chiefs and Lions.
Article Continues BelowWith Lamar Jackson leading the way for this relentless Ravens offense, the Broncos defense will have their hands full all game long while trying to stop their booming offensive attack. Aside from their upcoming opponents, the Broncos are playing in one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL, with the Raiders and Chargers rejuvenated and looking to make the playoffs, they're not alone as a new and improved team in the AFC West.
The Chiefs have gone on the decline as of late, but it's still early and they won't stay at the bottom of the division all season long. So the Broncos most certainly have their work cut out for them and still have a lot more to prove as the season goes on. Now they do possess one of the best defenses in the NFL. Their offense has been flowing seamlessly, but they still have a long season ahead of them and as dominant as they've looked early on, it's hard to imagine them being able to keep up this level of dominant play for the rest of the season.
However, they have made strides and improvements in comparison to last season and will unquestionably find themselves in the thick of the AFC wild card race this year. Hoping to keep up their current level of production and stay competitive each week in the NFL, the Broncos won't have an easy path ahead of them.
In spite of their efforts and a vastly improved roster, it doesn't seem like this will be enough to earn them an NFL playoff spot this season and it's hard to see them outplaying the Chiefs, Raiders, and Chargers in the process of accomplishing this. Despite having a solid start to their season, the Broncos still have a tough schedule awaiting them that will likely spoil their chances of nabbing a playoff spot this year.
