A monumental report has surfaced, stating that Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown will not be ready to play in a wild-card weekend game if the team was pegged to play in that spot.

This report comes by way of ESPN's Adam Schefter, who wrote the following:

Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Antonio Brown is not expected to be ready for the wild-card round of the playoffs, a league source told ESPN.

For those unaware, the talented receiver suffered a partially torn calf muscle in Week 15 against the New England Patriots. The Steelers already have ruled him out for their game Monday Night Football game against the Houston Texans.

There's no guarantee that Pittsburgh would be playing in the wild-card weekend, but this does add intrigue for the long-term as well — at least relative to the playoffs.

While it is only conjecture at this point, considering Pittsburgh doesn't expect him to be ready in a few weeks, there's a decent chance (or, more accurately, the idea of a chance) that he might not be ready during other portions of the playoffs as well.

Nevertheless, this is a huge blow to the Steelers, who rely heavily upon the wickedly gifted receiver.

Pittsburgh is still fighting for one of the top two AFC seeds, which would give the team an extra bye-week, providing Brown a full extra week of rest.
