For Seattle Seahawks star Russell Wilson, the season has been as tough as an overcooked steak. They failed to advance to the NFL Playoffs for only the third time in the last 10 years and it has become clear that Wilson hasn't truly performed to his level.
It's no coincidence that he's been the subject of trade rumors all season long and it looks like he and Seahawks coach Pete Carroll are expected to go their separate ways in the offseason. At 33 years old, the window is closing fast for Wilson. While he said his goal is to win three more Super Bowl titles, the chances of doing so with the Seahawks are becoming slim (via New York Post).
“Obviously we can’t do it not being in the playoffs right now. But I think that most importantly, it takes a lot of effort, it takes a lot of things, it takes a lot of pieces. I think we have a good amount of those pieces, a lot of them. It’s been a tough season.”
For the first time in his sturdy career, Wilson got sidelined by an injury. He sat out three games in February due to a finger injury. Since then, he and the Seahawks have stumbled and are guaranteed to have a losing record for the first time since 2011. They improved to 6-10 on Sunday night after routing the Detroit Lions.
Wilson has expressed his willingness to stay with the Seahawks, but he has also hinted at possibly leaving, with the New York Giants being one of the most feasible landing spots for the star quarterback.
