Dion Jordan managed to do the unthinkable. Last Thursday, the maligned Seattle Seahawks player managed to return to football after nearly three years of not playing a snap. In turn, head coach Pete Carroll is pumped out of his mind in regard to the entire ordeal.

Guys are fired up about how hard he played and how tough he played,” Seattle coach Pete Carroll said.

This isn't really story about a guy who get hurt, then overcame injuries. Many of the issues Dion Jordan faced were his own doing.

Jordan was the third overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft. At the time, he was selected by the Miami Dolphins. That's the good. After that, nearly all bad.

He was suspended for six games in 2014 for failed drug tests, suspended for the entire 2015 season for more failed drug tests, and didn’t play at all in 2016 (mostly injury), either.

At that point, most thought he was done, but he signed with the Seahawks this year and finally got healthy enough in recovery from a knee injury to play on Thursday, when he recorded a sack. It was only the fourth sack of his NFL career.

Obviously, only time will tell if Jordan ends up a player of impact for Seattle or not. His sack on Thursday game in the fourth quarter, though, it is worth noting that he did also manage to “hit” the quarterback three other times.

The expectations on the former third overall pick are now much lower after a few years of nothingness. Maybe because of that, plus some time away from football, will provide him with enough leeway to figure things out and contribute to the Seahawks moving forward.
