The Seattle Seahawks have a big game coming up in Week 14 against the formidable Jacksonville Jaguars. Like any other head coach would, Pete Carroll has had to become quite astute with his opponent leading up to Sunday.
Which is why he was a bit perplexed by a question he received regarding Jacksonville head coach Gus Bradley. The problem is, Bradley no longer coaches the Jags. Rather than eviscerate the reporter for not doing his job, Carroll played along by praising Bradley for what he has done as defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers.
By way of Aaron Levine of Fox Sports:
This might have been the most awkward moment at a Pete Carroll press conference, and coach handles it pretty graciously. Asking about Gus Bradley. #Seahawks pic.twitter.com/oWEVEbuCwV

“Okay…let me answer it this way. What Gus (Bradley) is doing with the Chargers is really good. He's doing great as the coordinator of the Chargers. He's always been a good coach,” Carroll said. “Anytime a coach moves, you look back and see your team kind of emerging, you wonder what it would have been like if you were still there because he had a lot to do with building this team and this roster.”
Carroll had every right to poke fun at the media member, but instead offered up a pretty solid quote. Needless to say, it was just the latest example of the kind of person he is.
Had that been New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, best believe things would have been handled much differently. Fortunately, the reporter was bailed out by the kindness of Carroll.
Bradley served as the defensive coordinator for the Seahawks from 2009-12. As Carroll mentioned, he played an integral part of building Seattle's formidable defense before taking the head coaching gig for Jags prior to the 2013 NFL season.
