Recent rumors have the Seattle Seahawks pegged to be up for sale. After watching the Denver Broncos sell for $4.65 billion, perhaps other sports franchise owners are aiming to make a large sum of money as well. However, it sounds like head coach Pete Carroll doesn't believe the rumors that owner Jody Foster is shopping the franchise.

According to Sports Illustrated, Pete Carroll shot down the rumors with no remorse, stating, “[Jody Allen's] never entertained that thought at all. I haven't heard her say that at all.” If that's the case, then the rumors regarding the Seahawks may not be true after all.

However, the “rumors initially surfaced when the trust for the late Paul Allen, who was a co-founder for Microsoft and owner of the Seahawks, the NBA’s [Portland] Trail Blazers and MLS’s [Seattle] Sounders, called for the Seahawks and Trail Blazers to be sold. If the teams were sold, the proceeds were going to go toward Allen’s passion projects that he cared deeply about,” per Sports Illustrated.

Even so, Portland has continued to state the Trail Blazers are not for sale. Now, Pete Carroll is chiming in to make sure everyone knows the Seahawks are not for sale either. Additionally, there is no word from Jody Allen regarding selling the franchise. So for that reason, we have to take Carroll's word for it.

We'll see how everything plays out, but for now, we can safely remove the “For Sale” sign from the Seahawks' franchise. Maybe the team will be up for sale in the future, but it's looking like the Denver Broncos are the only team in the NFL changing owners for the time being.
