The Seattle Seahawks ended their regular season on a poor note as they narrowly lost to the San Francisco 49ers, 26-21. It was a narrow defeat that could have easily ended in favor of the Seahawks if they didn't get slapped with the delay of game penalty that doomed them to the loss.

Plenty of Seahawks fans are calling foul over the poor performance they showed out. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll decided to explain what happened during the final moments that led to the penalty the officials had to give to them.

“Yeah, we were in no backs the play before,” Carroll told reporters, via NBC Sports' Alex Didion. “And we called the personnel and just didn’t get it communicated with the backs, and we were just late. We were late getting in there, and we just didn’t get it done.”

He knew that the team can only blame themselves for the horrible play they showcased and asked for an improved performance from his players in the coming playoffs.

“We didn’t function playing, sometimes you can relax like that’s a timeout, on the sideline, it felt like that’s what happened. We didn’t get the substitution done properly, and we were late, and there wasn’t enough time to get the play off.”

The team may have suffered a narrow loss to their intra-conference rivals, but there are aspects of the game to be positive about. The Seahawks played a decent all-around game that could still improve come the playoffs. Moreover, Marshawn Lynch completed his comeback, covering 34 yards in 12 carries.

If there's one thing the Seahawks can improve over their upcoming training sessions, it would be their communication during two-minute drills.
