With the offseason in full swing, teams around the league have already begun to make their preparations for training camp. However, there is one familiar face missing at the Seattle Seahawks' practices.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding safety Earl Thomas' future in Seattle this offseason. Head coach Pete Carroll basically confirmed that Thomas has been skipping the team's offseason workouts and remains unsure whether he will take part in any of their upcoming workouts, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson:

“We'll find out. We've got to communicate,” Carroll said Sunday as the team wrapped up a three-day rookie minicamp. “Phase 2 doesn't look like it's suiting him right now, so we'll see, we'll see what's happening. Phase 3 is around the corner for us, so we'll see. We've got one more week of Phase 2.”

Carroll's update should hardly come as any surprise. Thomas and the Seahawks have been deadlocked in their negotiations for a long-term contract. He even hinted that he would hold out if necessary during the Pro Bowl.

Concerns about his future in Seattle were further facilitated by trade rumors this offseason with the Dallas Cowboys emerging as a potential partner. However, it seems that their negotiations never picked up any real steam.

The Seahawks have undergone some major changes this offseason, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Although parting ways with the six-time Pro Bowler would deal a devastating blow to fans, it is one they have seriously considered. It is clear that Thomas wants to be one of the highest-paid safeties in the league, however, it does not appear as if Seattle is ready to make that commitment.
