Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is more of a tough guy than I'll ever be. After being asked about his Achilles, the defensive standout couldn't have been more flippant about it even if he tried.
For those unaware, during Seattle's Thursday Night Football game, Richard Sherman ruptured his Achilles. Apparently, the corner felt this moment coming for some time.
“I knew what was happening,” Sherman said, via the team’s website. “It has been bothering me all season. It was one of those things you just had to play through as long as you can, then when it goes, it goes. … Because every game matters in this league, every game matters. You go out there and play for your teammates. Go out there and try to give them all you’ve got, because they deserve it. That’s what I did; I wanted to give my team the best chance to win. We were kind of beat up at corner anyway, didn’t want to put the young guys in a hard spot.”
The injury officially ends Sherman's season. That is obviously an awful thing for both the Seahawks and the talented corner. However, he did mention that he plans on trying to help his secondary for the remainder of the season by giving them tips and whatnot from the sideline.
While the biggest take away from this is Sherman's injury, the most amazing thing about all of this is just how casual he was talking about his Achilles exploding. I would be crying like a baby. I guess that is why he is great at his job and I am typing words about his greatness.
