The Seattle Seahawks didn't need a talent like Josh Gordon. However, when they noticed teams weren't picking him off of the waiver wire, they couldn't help but add a bit more horsepower to their already speedy wide receiver lineup.

Head coach Pete Carroll confirmed, immediately after the news broke, that acquiring Gordon is a talent over need thing. However, he won't be playing this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Nonetheless, he's excited to add another playmaker to the roster.

He's a big-play guy,” said Carroll on Friday via Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune. “He's been able to stretch the field and those that I know that have worked with him and coached him have raved about his talent and play-making ability.”

Carroll did say that he does not know how Gordon is currently doing in terms of a physical aspect. The Patriots previously placed him on the injured reserve with a knee injury that is reported to be two bone bruises. They waived him after he was healthy. They will take a look and see what he looks like over the next week, said Carroll.

On the season, Gordon has 20 receptions for 287 yards and a touchdown in six games played. In 2018, splitting time in New England and Cleveland, Gordon reeled in 41 receptions for 737 yards and four touchdowns. He now joins one of the NFL's fastest wide receiving corps, as Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf have proven all season long. The now-Seahawk will be a free agent after the season.
