Retired New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski made an appearance at WWE's WrestleMania over last weekend, winning the 24/7 Championship. Although he has teased an NFL comeback in conjunction only with the league loosening policy against marijuana use, Gronkowski had one fan watching his wrestling match in the form of Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht, who also commented on a hypothetical NFL comeback for the retired tight end. Via ESPN's Jenna Laine:
“Well he’s doing a pretty good job in WrestleMania right now. I have no idea if he’d want to play.”
Bucs GM Jason Licht on if Rob Gronkowski would ever be an option: "Well he's doing a pretty good job in Wrestlemania right now. I have no idea if he'd want to play." He said the Patriots still have rights to him.

Gronkowski, of course, was the star offensive complement and teammate to new Buccaneers veteran quarterback Tom Brady for the Patriots, winning three Super Bowls alongside the future Hall of Fame gunslinger. “Gronk,” 30, was selected to five Pro Bowls and won the Comeback Player of the Year award in 2014. He retired following the 2018 NFL season after nine seasons.
Should Gronkowski attempt an NFL comeback, Licht and the Buccaneers could line up to see if the tight end wants to reunite with Brady in Tampa Bay. The Bucs are loaded at the top of the wide receiver depth chart with stud wideouts Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, but representing the tight ends is OJ Howard, coming off his third season with Tampa Bay and finishing with 459 receiving yards on 34 catches for one touchdown.
The mix of chemistry and physicality Gronkowski could bring to the Buccaneers' offense playing alongside Brady again would absolutely be appreciated by Licht and Co. As for now, Licht is just a spectator watching Gronk wrestle in essentially the last U.S. sport event still being held.
