Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady stunned the sports world when he announced his retirement earlier this offseason, only to then back out and state he was returning for another season. Longtime teammate Rob Gronkowski, who has also been mulling a possible return to the field, has yet to make a decision on the future of his playing career. However, Gronkowski was very vocal about Brady's playing career during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, as the star tight end made a bold claim about a '50-year-old' Brady, per Pro Football Talk.
“I was not surprised at all,” Gronkowski said. “I was actually surprised how quick it was, because I thought he was possibly going to take a year off or something like that and maybe come back after that. I believe he’ll have it until he’s at least 50 years old. I see his work ethic day in and day out, and it’s second to none.”
Gronkowski told Kimmel that he wasn't surprised about Brady coming back, just how quickly the legendary quarterback decided to make that decision.
The Buccaneers tight end went on to make a very bold claim about Brady, saying that the future Hall of Famer “will have it until he's at least 50-years old,”, commending the seven-time Super Bowl champ for his work ethic.
Playing to the age of 50- and beyond- is something Brady has said publicly in the past. Now Gronkowski, who knows him as well as about anyone, is echoing that sentiment.
Would it surprise anyone if Brady, who is coming off of back-to-back 40-touchdown seasons for the first time in his career at the age of 44, keeps playing for another five years?
