NFL training camps have begun and the season is that much closer to kicking off. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have long been discussed as Super Bowl favorites after retaining their entire starting 22. On Friday, however, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians was not pleased with the efforts of Tom Brady and company and went on to rip the Bucs effort, according to Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times.
“It was just a horses–t practice…I’m really not pleased; I thought we were really, really sluggish. We talked about it before we left (Wednesday) and took the day off (Thursday). I don’t know if our receivers caught a pass. Same thing defensively, we didn’t stop anything over third-and-9. … Hopefully, we’ll be better in pads (Saturday).”
Yikes. Arians came out firing after the Buccaneers' latest effort in training camp, and perhaps the team got a little too comfortable after winning the Super Bowl easily against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Article Continues BelowEverybody knows Bruce Arians has never been one to have a filter, but the fact that he comes out and says this after a few days of training camp doesn't bode well for Tampa Bay as a team.
The hype surrounding Tampa Bay has been a big one, and rightfully so. Brady is still around, and they did bring everybody back and added talent as well. With that being said, Arians has a right to be upset with the Buccaneers' performance. Their expectations as a team are still to make a trip to the Super Bowl, and everybody knows how important training camp is.
However, with the GOAT Tom Brady at quarterback for Tampa Bay, surely things will pick up as camp progresses for the Buccaneers. Let's see if Arians goes on another rant if the Bucs don't live up to his expectations as we approach the beginning of August.
