The Tennessee Titans are in the midst of a complete rebuild on the offensive side of the ball. As a result, there has been speculation that they may decide to part ways with veteran running back DeMarco Murray this offseason.
Murray has two years and more than $13 million left on his current deal. However, his latest comments suggest that he may at least discuss a possible pay cut, according to ESPN's Cameron Wolfe:
Murray suffered a knee injury that kept him out of Tennessee's last three games of the season. As a result, the consensus is convinced that the Titans may part ways with the 30-year-old back.
The emergence of running back Derrick Henry seemingly put a stamp on this theory. It is no secret that Henry has been poised to take over as the workhorse for some time now. As a result, the Titans could be looking to bring in a versatile back to compliment him in the team's new offensive system.
Furthermore, Murray has scoffed at the notion that he would take a backup role at this stage in his career. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see if he is willing to pair a potential pay cut with a decreased role in the offense as well.
