The Washington Football Team suffered a tough loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday. The game was postponed two days due to COVID-19, but the virus continues to affect those involved. On Wednesday, the Eagles announced that head coach Nick Sirianni tested positive for the virus.

The news came less than 24 hours after the NFC East matchup. Following the game, the Eagles head coach and Washington's head coach Ron Rivera had a short interaction with limited physical contact. The interaction occurred outdoors at Lincoln Financial Field, and both head coaches were using some sort of face covering.

The positive test following their contact raises concern for Rivera's health, since he is immunocompromised due to a recent cancer diagnosis.

According to ESPN NFL reporter John Keim, Washington's head coach is focused on Sirianni's well-being and quick recovery.

Sirianni is fully vaccinated with a booster, but got tested on Wednesday after feeling symptomatic for the virus. In Rivera's response to the positive test, he recognized that the Omicron variant is highly contagious, which emphasizes the importance of following COVID-19 protocols.

Rivera knows the importance of virus protocols all too well, since Washington dealt with over 20 players on their COVID-19 list ahead of the Week 15 matchup. Fortunately, there have been no reports of Rivera testing positive for the virus.
