Why The Panthers Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Florida Panthers are extremely dominant on the offensive side of the side as they are scoring a league-best 4.05 goals per game. They're coming off of a huge shootout comeback victory last night and hope to ride that momentum into this matchup. The Panthers went out and got star center, Claude Giroux, from the Flyers at the trade deadline, who now has four points in the two games that he's played with Florida. Starting in net for the Panthers should be backup goaltender, Spencer Knight. The 20-year-old netminder has played in 24 games this season and is representing a .906 save percentage while allowing 2.89 goals against per game. He'll look to shut down a tough Maple Leafs offense tonight if he wants to get another win under his belt.

Why The Maple Leafs Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Toronto Maple Leafs come back home after losing to Montreal last night and put up 50+ shots against them. They just couldn't find the back of the net as much as they would've hoped for, and in return, got horrific goaltending to keep them in the game. Speaking of goaltending, the starter for the Maple Leafs tonight should be Petr Mrazek, who, keep in mind, the Leafs were actively trying to replace at the trade deadline. He's averaging 3.39 goals against through 18 games this season and has a .885 save percentage on the year. He'll have to stand on his head tonight if the Maple Leafs want to stay in it tonight.

Final Panthers-Maple Leafs Prediction & Pick

The first time I looked at these odds, I was genuinely confused. Why are Panthers listed in plus money? As the Stanley Cup favorites out of the East, you would never expect them to be listed where they are. With that said, there must be something that oddsmakers know that I don't since I can't comprehend this. Maybe I'm overthinking it now, but I kind of want to move the line of the total goals down to 6.5 and take the over. Both of these goalies aren't the best and they're going up against powerhouse offenses. I want to play it safe and take the Alternate Over at 6.5, but I *really* like the Panthers in plus money. Value-wise, you can't turn down an opportunity like that.

Final Panthers-Maple Leafs Prediction and Pick: Alternate Over 6.5 (-146) and Panthers Moneyline (+104)
