The Norman Police Department is launching an investigation into a bar fight involving Oklahoma Sooners football player Spencer Jones, with charges likely to be filed at the conclusion of said investigation.

A video showing Jones involved in a bathroom brawl in Logie's on the Corner–a campus bar–went viral on Twitter last week. One user named Braden Brown said he and his brother were the ones involved in the incident, in which Jones was slammed to the ground:

“Just to get rid of the misconceptions, I’m the fellow in the beanie and that is my brother,” Brown tweeted. “We ARE NOT wrestlers at any university, we have been wrestling since we were in diapers and MMA/Cage Fighting since we were 12. They gave us no options unfortunately. We showed restraint.”

Jones' legal representative, Woodrow “Woody” Glass, told The OU Daily doctors said Oklahoma Sooners talent Spencer Jones was fortunate not to lose an eye in the altercation:

“Dr. Brooks came out of that surgery saying he’s extraordinarily lucky at this point, that he’s lucky he didn’t lose the eye altogether,” Glass said about the bar fight, via OU Daily. “And so he was able to do some things surgically to rebuild that orbital socket and thinks everything is eventually going to come back to normal, but it’s going to take a while for him to fully recover.”

Glass has maintained Jones was trying to play the role of peacekeeper, adding the cause of the scuffle is unknown.

Any possible charges are expected to be determined by the Cleveland Country district attorney at the end of the investigation.
