The Green Bay Packers are at a major crossroads when it comes to the direction the franchise will head in. With its two best offensive weapons both potentially set to walk this offseason, the Packers face the decision of entering a rebuild or having to maneuver the salary cap in order to extend Davante Adams, while keeping Aaron Rodgers in town. GM Brian Gutekunst answered questions Wednesday regarding Adams' future with the Packers, and he left all options open. Via Matt Schneidman, Gutekunst said Adams could “possibly” walk in free agency.

Gutekunst is not a fan of using the franchise tag, and his goal is still to extend Adams on a long-term contract. Placing the franchise tag on Adams would essentially defer this predicament for another season, but that doesn't appear to be the avenue Gutekunst wants to explore.

While he maintains that keeping Adams in town is one of his goals for the offseason, the GM refused to rule out the possibility that the star wide receiver leaves the team in free agency. Of course, the decision Adams makes could very well impact the future of Rodgers in Green Bay, and vice versa.

Financially, Gutekunst feels confident that the Packers could remain competitive despite their financial issues if they kept both Rodgers and Adams on the roster. The team already cleared up as much as $10.89 million of cap space by restructuring Kenny Clark's contract, so if they're truly trying to keep their star tandem in town, similar restructures to that of Clark's could be in line.
