Le'Veon Bell seems to know where his football career will continue. Before the superstar running back announces his decision, though, it's become apparent one marquee team that seemed a good fit for his services on the surface doesn't have the salary-cap capital to sign him.
According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Green Bay Packers, having overhauled their defense on the first day of free agency, “are not in the running” to acquire Bell.
Not sure if the #Packers did more than inquire about RB Le'Veon Bell, but they are not in the running and are not signing him. They would need to mortgage their future with the amount of money they've already spent in free agency. Just thought I'd say that.

The Packers were as active as any team in the league on Monday, the first day teams were permitted to begin negotiating deals with exterior free-agent targets. The team reportedly agreed to a four-year, $66 million contract with edge rusher Za'Darius Smith, a four-year, $37 million contract with safety Adrian Amos, and a four-year, $52 million contract with edge rusher Preston Smith. Green Bay also reached an agreement with offensive lineman Billy Turner.
Article Continues BelowBell, meanwhile, has fanned the flames of interest in his first foray into free agency on social media. The three-time Pro Bowler took it to another level on Tuesday, seeming to suggest in a reply to NBC's Akbar Gbajabiamila that he's already made up his mind.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced in late February that they had opted against using the franchise tag on Bell for a third consecutive season, effectively ending his tenure with the team. He sat out the entirety of the 2018 season after Pittsburgh designated him with the franchise tag for the second year in a row.
Bell notched career-highs in rushes, rushing touchdowns, and catches in 2017, finishing his latest season with 321 carries for 1,291 yards and nine scores, adding 85 receptions for 655 yards and two touchdowns.
