The Green Bay Packers are finalizing a massive 4-year, $84 million dollar contract extension with star cornerback Jaire Alexander. ESPN's Adam Schefter broke down the details of the deal.
Packers and Pro-Bowl CB Jaire Alexander are finalizing a 4-year, $84 million contract extension, per source. Deal includes $31 million in 2022 – a DB record of $30 million in signing bonus. Alexander will receive $42.5M by March. @JohnThornton of @RocNationSports confirmed deal.

The contract makes Alexander the highest paid CB in the NFL.
The Packers have recently expressed an interest to stabilize a strong defensive core. They had two picks in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft and opted to select a linebacker and defensive tackle despite many fans pleading for a wide receiver. But this is an organization that believes their offensive unit is already primed to win.
Green Bay's offense, led by Aaron Rodgers, has been strong for quite some time. But this defense could be headed for new heights with Jaire Alexander leading the way.
Alexander has established a reputation as one of the best cornerbacks in the league since entering the NFL in 2018. However, his 2021 campaign was limited to just four total games.
But he obviously accomplished enough during his Pro-Bowl 2020 season to impress the Packers. Alexander recorded 40 solo tackles, 51 total tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 13 passes deflected in 2020. The 25-year old possesses the talent and willingness to matchup with any top receiver in the game.
Jaire Alexander could be the difference maker for the Packers in 2022, as long as he is able to remain healthy.
Green Bay wants to win now. There were retirement rumors surrounding Aaron Rodgers all year up until he signed his own extension with the Packers. His return has injected new life into the franchise. Green Bay could be a dangerous team next season.
