If you meet him, don't compare Paul Walter Hauser to Vin Diesel.
During an interview with CinemaBlend, Hauser explained that it's “cool” to play a character with an arc who saves the day in Inside Out 2. In the movie, he voices Embarrassment, one of Riley's new emotions after hitting puberty.
The interviewer joked that he is now like Vin Diesel, which Paul Walter Hauser quickly shut down.
“Please don't say that. I like to think I'm on time,” Hauser fired back. “And approachable.
“Sorry, I love people but when I hear stories about Hollywood actors who get paid really well and mistreat people I out them constantly. And it's a blast,” he continued.
Vin Diesel has had feuds with co-stars in the past. Dwayne Johnson left the Fast and Furious for several years at one point after conflict with Diesel. He was also sued by a former assistant for inappropriate behavior.
What is Inside Out 2?
Pixar's Inside Out 2 is the long-awaited to the 2015 movie Inside Out. The sequel picks up a couple of years later as Riley hits puberty and is getting ready to enter high school.
Before she attends a weekend hockey camp, Riley discovers her best friends were not assigned to the same high school. As a result, Riley is torn between having one last fun weekend with her friends and impressing the varsity kids.
At the same time, Riley's emotions are thrown for a loop when she hits puberty. While Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Fear (Tony Hale), and Disgust (Liza Lapira) are holding down the fort, new emotions enter the fray.
Anxiety (Maya Hawke) leads the charge. She is joined by Embarrassment (Hauser), Envy (Ayo Edebiri), and Ennui (Adèle Exarchopoulos). They attempt to overthrow the OG emotions which sends them on a mission to the back of Riley's mind. They have to recover Riley's lost Sense of Self.
The movie's amazing box office run
At the box office, Inside Out 2 has knocked it out of the park. Upon its debut, the sequel exceeded expectations and grossed $154 million domestically. That is over $60 million more than its predecessor.
In just a couple of weeks, the sequel has made almost $750 million worldwide. For reference, its predecessor made $858 million worldwide during its theatrical run. The sequel has a high chance of topping that.
This is a major win for Pixar. They have been on a recent skid thanks to the pandemic affecting movies like Luca, Turning Red, Soul, and Onward. Lightyear was a flop and Elemental had to leg out for a long time to recover from its slow start.
Who is Paul Walter Hauser?
Paul Walter Hauser began his career appearing in shows such as Community, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Key and Peele.
His breakthrough came when he had a supporting role in I, Tonya. He subsequently appeared in Super Troopers 2 and BlacKkKlansman.
In 2019, Hauser starred in Clint Eastwood's Richard Jewell. From there, Hauser would star in Da 5 Bloods, SOngbird, Cruella, and Old Dads.
On the small screen, Hauser also has a role in Cobra Kai. He starred in Black Bird for Apple TV+ and earned an Emmy Award for his performance in the series. Taron Egerton, Sepideh Moafi, Greg Kinnear, and the late Ray Liotta also starred in it.
