The New Orleans Pelicans take on the Utah Jazz for the second time this season on Monday night. This game will continue our NBA odds series as we hand out a Pelicans-Jazz prediction and pick. We will also let you know how to watch the game.

The Pelicans are 9-8, and they are coming off a loss against the Jazz. In that game, the Pelicans managed to score just 100 points. Brandon Ingram was the leading scorer for the Pelicans as he put up 26 points. To go along with that, Ingram recorded eight assists, and six rebounds. Jordan Hawkins played one of his best games in the loss. He dropped 25 points, and grabbed six rebounds.

The Jazz's win against the Pelicans was just their fifth of the season. They did it without their best player in Lauri Markannen, as well. Utah had six different players score more than 10 points in the win while five had at least six rebounds. Nobody played more than 30 minutes for the Jazz in the win. Collin Sexton led the team with 16 points in the win.

Why The Pelicans Could Cover The Spread

The Pelicans will have Zion Williamson back for this game, and that is big news. New Orleans is just 1-3 without Williamson this season, so having him back will be a massive help. Williamson and Ingram compliment each other well on the court, so there should be much better basketball played in this one. With Williamson back, the Pelicans should be able to cover this spread.

The Jazz are going to be without Markannen again in this game as he deals with a hamstring injury. Markannen is the best player on the Jazz, and he makes a real difference on the court. Without him, the Jazz will struggle to score once again. If the Pelicans can score more than the 100 points they scored on Saturday, they will be able to cover the spread.

Why The Jazz Could Cover The Spread

Utah will not have Markannen, and as mentioned, that is a huge hit for the team. However, they were able to win without him on Saturday. This is because they played very good team basketball in the win. Everyone played with fresh legs, and they spread the ball around well. The Jazz finished the game with 23 assists, but what was even more impressive was their 14 offensive rebounds. Utah needs to play that type of game again if they want to cover this spread.

On defense, the Jazz held the Pelicans to just 41.9 percent from the field. They also made it tough on New Orleans from deep as the Pelicans shot 30.6 percent from three. Utah, with their fresh legs, were able to make it hard on New Orleans all game, and this is what they will have to do again. If the Jazz can do the same thing in this game, they will cover the spread.

Final Pelicans-Jazz Prediction & Pick

Expect a similar gameplan in this game as Saturday for Utah. The Jazz should be constantly subbing people on and off the floor, and keep legs fresh. It worked in game one, but I am not sure it will work in this one. The Pelicans should have Williamson back, and that will make a difference. I am going to take the Pelicans to cover the spread in this one.

Final Pelicans-Jazz Prediction & Pick: Pelicans -5.5 (-112), Under 232 (-108)
