The New Orleans Pelicans are planning to offer their center DeMarcus Cousins a five-year maximum offer for an estimated $175 million, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

While his counterpart and partner in crime Anthony Davis is denying trade rumors, it didn't take long for the team to take action and try to secure Cousins for the long run, hoping to keep Fire and Ice as a long-standing tandem.

Cousins isn't exactly juggling any offers in today's marketplace, especially as any other team only being able to offer a four-year deal for his services.

New Orleans is by far the frontrunner and favorite to keep the double-double machine in the Big Easy, and plans to do so with a succulent offer to seal the deal.

Boogie is putting up a strong 25.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game — a Giannis Antetokounmpo-like stat line that should make him the best paid center in the league.

Besides E'Twaun Moore and Darius Miller, Cousins has proven to be the best 3-point option, despite shooting only a respectable 35.6 percent from deep this season in over six attempts per game.

But perhaps his value rests beyond his numbers, allowing Anthony Davis to flourish even more, at the tune of 26.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game — playing effortlessly off each other's talents and willingness to share the ball.

Davis still has another two years in his contract and Jrue Holiday was recently signed to a five-year deal this past offseason, making Boogie the last missing piece to secure before locking down the team's foundation.
