On Sunday, Justin Thomas entered the final round of the PGA Championship at Southern Hills trailing the leader Mito Pereira by seven shots. There was next to no chance that Thomas could win his second Wanamaker Trophy. At one point during the final round Sunday, Thomas had a 1.2 percent chance of winning. So much was going to need to happen for him to have any chance. Then all of that happened, as Justin Thomas won the 2022 PGA Championship.

Thomas comeback victory was the third greatest in the history of golf majors. He erased a seven-shot deficit in the final round to win the tournament. Only Paul Lowrie and Jack Burke Jr. overcame larger deficits in Majors history.

It was truly an incredible final round of golf. His ball-striking was on display Sunday. Thomas saved par at one point on a hole where his tee shot bounced off the cart path. He also sank a nearly 50-foot putt from off the green for birdie.

But even after posting a final round 3-under 67, Thomas found himself in the clubhouse a shot back of Pereira. The tournament's leader entered the 18th hole with a one-shot lead. His tee shot found the water and he was not able to recover, eventually posting double bogey.

That left Thomas and Will Zalatoris in a two-way playoff. PGA Championship rules dictate a 3-hole playoff. Both players birdied the first playoff hole. But only Thomas kept up that momentum with a fantastic drive on the second playoff hole, setting up a birdie and a one shot lead. Both players would par the final playoff hole, ending the tournament.

Justin Thomas earned his second major championship. He previously won the 2017 PGA Championship. Thomas became the first golfer since Dave Stockton to win two PGA Championships as his first two career major titles.

After clinching the championship, Justin Thomas channelled Cam Newton and dabbed on the course.
