World no. 5 Justin Thomas did the unthinkable when he came back from an eight-shot deficit with 10 holes to go to secure a PGA Championship victory at Southern Hills. Thomas outlasted Will Zalatoris in a three-hole playoff to earn the second major win of his PGA Tour career. Speaking to reporters at the Colonial National Invitation, Thomas revealed how the win was a long time coming for him, per Sports Illustrated.

“I feel like I've been playing some of the best golf of my career the last year and have literally had nothing to show for it, had no wins, and it just was like, man, it's hard to win out here, and you just don't know when it's going to happen again,’’ said Thomas, whose last victory came at the 2021 Players Championship.

“For it to happen at the biggest stage, at a major, to win my second one, my family there, I just was kind of taking it in and couldn't kind of believe that it happened. I was just happy. I was just really, really happy and kind of enjoying the moment I guess.’’

In an honest statement, Thomas said that he's “been playing some of the best golf of his career” and had “nothing to show for it.” He had won at least two PGA Tour events in three of the last four years, so his game was definitely steady.

He just didn't have that coveted second major win, until this year's PGA Championship. While Thomas didn't want to reflect too much on the victory with the Colonial on the docket, he still took the time to reflect on the “unbelievable” moment at Southern Hills.

It's one that Thomas won't forget.
