On a day where tons of players are getting waived by NBA teams, not many saw this one coming.

The Phoenix Suns reportedly waived Archie Goodwin, the 6-foot-5, 22-year-old guard who is about to start his fourth season in the NBA.

The Suns were trying to trade Goodwin but after being unable to find a partner decided to waive him.

Goodwin should receive a lot of interest from other teams. The Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets, who currently hold the top two waiver wire slots, both should be interested in Goodwin's services.

Last season, Goodwin posted averages of 8.9 points and 2.1 assists on 41.7 percent shooter. He started 13 of the 57 games he played because of injuries to the likes of Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight. His biggest weakness is his outside shot as he has hit just 22.7 percent of his threes for his career.

The Suns used a second-round pick on Tyler Ulis with the 34th overall selection and Ulis has impressed in summer and preseason play, something that may have led to Goodwin becoming more expendable.
