Detroit Pistons supporters appear to be quite pleased about their summer signing of veteran point guard Derrick Rose. The 31-year-old has already been on the receiving end of some MVP chants this preseason.

The Pistons faced the Orlando Magic on Monday, and at one point in the first quarter, the home crowd began chanting “MVP! MVP!” as Rose was taking his free throws:

Following the contest — a game in which the visiting Magic came out on top, 115-91, against the home team — Rose admitted that while he does appreciate the gesture, these chants mean very little to him considering how badly his team lost on the evening:

“We were losing at the time,” Rose said, via ClutchPoints' Ashish Mathur. “I'm a winner bro. We lost. At the end of the day, we lost & that's more on my mind than anything. If we would have won, it would have been totally different, but I'm a winner bro.”

Such is the mentality of an extremely competitive guy like Rose. He pays very little mind to anything else but winning. For Pistons fans, though, they appear to be just happy to have the former MVP on their team for the upcoming campaign.

Rose arrived in Detroit this summer as a free agent on a two-year, $15 million deal. The 6-foot-3 point guard had a resurgent season with the Minnesota Timberwolves last term, averaging 18.0 points (on 48.2 percent shooting), 2.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 0.6 steals while also knocking down 1.1 3-pointers per contest on a 37.0 percent clip.

More of the same is expected of Rose in Detroit, as he looks to serve as the primary backup point guard to starter Reggie Jackson.
