Three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Aaron Donald is now firmly back in the mix with the Los Angeles Rams after ending his long contract holdout last Saturday despite not receiving a new long-term deal.

When asked about his current contract situation, Donald downplayed it as something he's not concerned with at this point, according to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com.

“Just business,” Donald said, dismissing the notion of possible animosity with the Rams' front office. “That's all.”

It's clear that the 26-year old has a strong desire to hammer out a new, lucrative deal that would make him the highest-paid defensive player in the league. This has been the sticking point for Donald, but the two sides have been unable to come to an agreement even though the Rams have continued to voice optimism about the process.

Through his first three seasons, Donald has earned recognition asone of the top defensive players in the NFL after leading all defensive linemen with 28.0 sacks and 57.0 tackles for loss. Last season, he led the league with 31 hits on the quarterback and was tied for the best mark with 17 tackles for loss.

With the Rams inking extensions with Pro Bowl punter Johnny Hekker and defensive end Ethan Westbrooks, it could be a sign that the team is nearing a new deal with Donald.
