At this point, it sounds like Aaron Donald is going to be running it back with the Super Bowl champions Los Angeles Rams this coming season. Earlier reports suggested that the 30-year-old could decide to retire after winning it all with the Rams in 2021, but right now, it seems like Donald is going to be leading the charge in LA's title defense this year.

According to NFL insiders Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Donald is now closing in on a massive extension with the Rams which will make him one of the most handsomely compensated players in the entire league:

Donald and the Rams are working on a new contract that could be done sooner than later. Arguably the game's best player, he will need to be the game's highest-paid defensive player, and the Rams know that. There were rumblings around the Super Bowl that he could retire, but an extension seems more likely.

The specifics of the potential deal were not revealed but it wouldn't be surprising if Donald rakes in some major earnings here. After all, there's no denying that he deserves this. He's one of the most important players on the Rams roster and LA would not have won the Super Bowl had it not been for the seven-time All-Pro defensive tackle.

Both Donald and the Rams are well aware of his stature and it seems like they are now working towards the same cause with regard to his new deal.
