Cooper Kupp produced an MVP-caliber season for the Los Angeles Rams in 2021. The wideout instantly connected with Matthew Stafford and the duo became a lethal force for the Rams offense. He led the league in catches, touchdowns receptions, and receiving yards. There has been much speculation into how much money he should be payed after posting elite numbers. Many expect him to receive more than Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams who both received big money.

Kupp previously signed a 3-year deal worth upwards of $47 million in 2020. But with the deal set to expire soon, extension talks are looming for the Rams star receiver.

Cooper Kupp commented on his mindset in terms of potentially becoming the highest paid wide receiver in the NFL.

“No,” Kupp said, per the Los Angeles Times. “I’m not trying to compare myself. I’m not trying to say, ‘OK, well where was Tyreek at? All those guys that got deals, where were all those guys at? And I need to be higher than them in certain places.’ I want this to be something we can work on together. Something that’s great for the team, something that’s great for me and my family as well. That place exists, and it’s just getting there.”

Kupp is saying that he doesn't want his contract to be based off of what other receivers made. But one has to figure that the Rams will use other wideout's contracts as a base given the fact that Kupp is arguably the best player at the position right now. Nonetheless, Kupp's humble approach to the conversation is admirable.

Cooper Kupp and the Rams will look to workout a new deal and then pursue a second consecutive Super Bowl victory next season.
