The Los Angeles Rams are slated to square off against the Dallas Cowboys in Hawaii for Week 2 of the preseason, however, it appears quarterback Jared Goff will not be joining his team in paradise.

Fans will be able to get a look at two-time reigning Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald. Meanwhile, Goff is expected to stay in Los Angeles for the weekend:

“(DT) Aaron (Donald) is going. He (QB Jared Goff) will not be.”

Head coach Sean McVay has set a precedent by having his starters sit out of the preseason. Although Donald is not expected to suit up, it seems he has made it a point of going and supporting his teammates. Goff's expected absence is likely a precautionary move to ensure that he is healthy for the start of the 2019 NFL season.

It is no secret that expectations remain as high as ever in Los Angeles after they fell short against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 53. Regardless, the Rams have good reason to be optimistic after they were able to avoid little turnover on the offensive side of the ball while adding some much-needed experience to their defense.

Despite the influx of star power Los Angeles has secured in recent years, their success has been facilitated by Goff's emergence into a bonafide franchise quarterback. The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft has gone from being a bust to a two-time Pro Bowler on the cusp of winning a Super Bowl.

He will now need to find a way to elevate his game to ensure that the Rams can get the job done this time around.
